In episode two of Magic Praxis, we have a conversation with the painter Brenda Goodman in her studio about her mentors growing up, painting in Detroit’s Cass Corrider district in the 60’s and then coming to New York and living and working on The Bowery. She talks about how paintings can function to heal old wounds, about not wanting to wear a dress to art school, figuration and abstraction, and the letting go and anxiety in her painting process.
